The Nikon AF-S VR Micro-NIKKOR 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED close-up lens is a mid-priced offering in this line. Nikon promotes this lens as being ideal for all photographic situations. Though it is not as long as the flagship AF Micro-NIKKOR 200mm f/4D IF-ED's 200mm focal length, the 105mm focal length of this lens will provide a wide range of working distances. This is the first Nikon lens designed for both micro and macro photography to feature silent wave autofocus motor (which makes for quiet, quick autofocusing) and Vibration Reduction (VR) image stabilization (which allows you to shoot up to 4 shutter speeds slower than would otherwise be possible). The internal focusing of this lens means that you can change the focus on the subject without altering its length, which allows you to retain working distance. Like the AF-S DX Micro NIKKOR 85mm f/3.5G ED VR, this lens has 1 ED glass element, which helps to correct chromatic abberation. This is one less than the flagship AF Micro-NIKKOR 200mm f/4D IF-ED's 2 ED glass elements. A unique feature of this lens is its non-rotating front design, which is convenient for use with circular polarizing filters. The Nikon AF-S VR Micro-NIKKOR 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED close-up lens comes with CL-1020 flexible lens pouch, HB-38 Bayonet hood, LF-1 rear lens cap and LC-62 62mm snap-on front lens cap.
