The NAD M55 is a universal DVD-Audio / SACD player that supports DVD-Audio, SVCD, SACD, CR, MP3, and WMA playback. And unlike competing models, the M55 doesn’t convert SACD’s native Direct Stream Digital signals to PCM digital, which means higher quality audio that purists will greatly appreciate. Plus the unit hosts separate bass-management paths for DVD-Audio and SACD, thereby also helping to increase quality. As for video functionality, the player uses a Faroudja DCDi upconversion kit to offer 480p, 720p, and 1080i resolutions over HDMI & component outputs. Also included is a premium 12-bit, 216MHz video DAC for component output, and a Cirrus Logic 10-bit, 247MHz video DAC for Composite and S-Video. Note also that the device can simultaneously feed a second zone video display.
