Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3 are winter tires aimed at sports cars and luxury cars. They have similar technical capabilities to Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2 tires, but some changes have been made to improve traction and handling. An asymmetric tread design is used in combination with 3-D Variable Thickness Sipes Technology, allowing for 10% more control in the snow. Narrower sipes line the outside, providing better handling in dry conditions. An increase in Biting Edges of 26% has lead to an improvement in control, which yields a 5% improvement over previous generation tires. The composition of the tires has changed as well, now using the Helio Compound for stopping distances of up to 2.8 meters less. These tires hold the Michelin Green X certification, indicating that they have been designed to be as fuel efficient as possible.
