When we bought our first house my wife told me to get her a Maytag washer and dryer. They were somewhat expensive but lasted 15-20 years. We replaced them with new Maytag appliances that also lasted 15 years. By the time those wore out Maytag had been taken over (-: by Whirpool. We bought this washer knowing that it was made by a second or third rate manufacturer (probably by non-union employees in China or Mississippi) but hoping that some of the Maytag quality had been retained. So disappointed.

This washer that we bought in 2009 is kaput in 2012 after expensive repairs in 2011. All the cons mentioned in earlier reviews are certainly true, but I would put reliability at the top of the list. The fact that there is only a one year warranty shows that the maker has no confidence in their product.

Stay away, stay far, far away.

This is the nosiest washer I have ever had. It hammers on the water pipes due to restricted intake flow. It makes loud jerking noises. I absolutely hate this washer and do not recommend it to anyone!!!!! I am not sure where this one is made, but after having Maytags all my life, this is the end!

I will probably sell it on craigslsit and get some GE front loaders or LG front loaders. The top load washer like this one are made like crap now.
