The BD7004 is a high-end Blu-ray player to be released in 2009 by Marantz. It features upscale design and build quality, as well as an advanced feature set. Like most second-generation players, the BD7004 supports BD-Live and Bonus View for web-activated content, as well as HDMI 1.3a. In addition to Blu-ray discs, it plays DVDs and CDs, and features an SD/SDHC card reader enabling playback of MP3 and WMA music files, as well as JPEG photos. Firmware can be updated via an ethernet port, useful since Blu-ray is a relatively new technology. The BD7004 is a step up from the BD5004, adding 7.1-channel audio support, a high-end Anchor Bay Reference Series video processor, and internal decoding for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. The front panel features aluminum and reinforced resin in a black finish, and elegantly arrayed controls, for a high-end look. A three-year warranty is standard.
