Edit

The BD5004 is an upcoming Blu-ray player from Marantz. Although an entry-level model in Marantz's line of Blu-ray players, it is far from low-end, with upscale design and build quality, and a fairly advanced feature set. Like many players released in 2009, the BD5004 supports BD-Live and Bonus View for web-activated content, as well as HDMI 1.3a. In addition to Blu-ray discs, it plays DVDs and CDs, and features an SD/SDHC card reader enabling playback of MP3 and WMA music files, as well as JPEG photos. Firmware can be updated via an ethernet port, useful since Blu-ray is a relatively new technology. The front panel features aluminum and reinforced resin in a black finish, and elegantly arrayed controls, for a high-end look. A three-year warranty is standard.
