The NR1501 is an entry-level A/V receiver from Marantz that encompasses many features in a slim chassis only 4" high and 13" deep. At only half the height of most standard receivers, the NR1501 was designed with a contoured front panel that combines aluminum and glass-reinforced resins for better shielding and dimensional stability. Behind this panel are 4 HDMI version 1.3-capable inputs, so video sources can be seen with more clarity and definition. The NR1501 includes decoding for advanced audio formats like Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master Audio, but also features a built-in upscaler so composite and component videos can be enjoyed on a flat-screen TV through HDMI input as well. A wideband 3-in/1-out component switcher is also included for analog-only connections. The audio circuitry boasts an automatic calibration system that delivers high definition sound to the user's ears, and rests on a separate circuit board for better performance with less interference. A 7-channel in-line amplifier benefits from voltage feedback for enhanced linearity. Additional features include a front panel 3.5mm connector for portable audio devices, an on-screen display menu for easy system set-up, and a Glo-key remote with preset codes for Marantz Blu-ray players so the entire system can be operated without the use of another remote.
