The Linksys E4200 is a “maximum performance,” dual-band Wireless-N router designed almost exclusively for home theater scenarios. Geared to handle Internet TVs, iPads, and smartphones, to name a few, the flagship E4200 (2011) uses six antennas and 2.4 / 5 GHz dual-band technology to deliver wireless speeds up to 450Mbps. Plus it relies on integrated amplifiers to provide an extended coverage radius. Otherwise a fairly standard router for the time period, the Linksys E4200 includes 4 Gigabit ports for ultra-fast, in-house wired connectivity; bandwidth prioritization for adjusting based on media type (video, music, etc.), a USB slot for sharing USB drives directly on one’s network, and built-in UPnP AV media server capabilities for streaming to gaming consoles and other UPnP devices.
