The Linksys BEFSR81 is a basic Cable/DSL router with an 8-port switch for sharing wired connectivity throughout a medium household or business. A step up from the BEFSR41, the Linksys BEFSR81 not only supports more standards, but it is faster and includes more security options. For instance, it includes WRR (Weighted Round-Robin) for reduced chance of data loss, as well as ability to filter a specific user’s router access. Most notable about the BEFSR81 is the fact that it can be configured as a DHCP server, and in fact acts as the only externally recognized Internet gateway on a LAN. Additional features of the Linksys BEFSR81 include dynamic & static port routing, DMZ hosting, filtering, forwarding, and quality-of-service capabilities. The Linksys BEFSR81 retails for $79.99 and comes with a 1 year limited warranty.
