Pros

passively cooled - silent

slower 5400RPM disks are perfect for storage - quiet and cool

large number of connections, high speed ones too (eSATA, firewire 400/800, USB 2.0)

Very Unique design, still small enough to be portable, yet solid enough to not slide around all over your desk.

The LaCie Little Big Disk Quadra is an external hard drive that suppors 3Gbits eSATA, high speed USB 2.0, and FireWire 400 and 800. It has a built in RAID 0, which is great for speed but bad for data security should there be a hard drive failure. It comes with 500 GB of space, but can also be purchased with 640 GB or even 1 TB. It is built with an all aluminium heat sink oriented body which removes the need for a noisy fan, ensuring that the device is quiet and unobtrusive. The body was designed by Neil Poulton for LaCie especially. The external hard drive has a rotational speed of 5400 and a cache of 16MB (2x8MB) or greater.  The device comes with backup software to help the user make the most of their external hard drive.
