The 8" square Solo-Baric S8L5 is the smallest size available in Kicker's Solo-Baric L5 product line of car subwoofers.  The L5 line itself fits in the middle of the subwoofers made available by Kicker.  The first thing to note about the L5 series is their square shape giving them a maximum area, which is also used by Kickers Solo X and Solo Baric L7.  The L5 series inherites the technology used in the L7 series, but with improved design and a new look.  Like the more advanced Solo X line, the L5 woofers use SoloKon technology, which is a rigid vacuum-formed design with vented 360-degree back bracing to push mass quantities of air.  The Santoprene surround attaches the cone to the stamped-steel basket and rear foam gasket allows a secure connection to any baffle.  The high-temperature dual voice coils which cover a solid heat-dispersing pole pice, poly-cotton semi-progressive spider with perimter venting and long-lasting Spirallead tinsel leads allow the motor structure to handle high power loads.  The S8L5 has a frequency response of 28-100 Hz, RMS of 300 watts and 600 watt peak power.  Available in 2 or 4 ohm versions, they can be used in either sealed or vented-box applications.  Square grill covers are sold seperately.

Features:
  • 8" square vacuum formed cone
  • Impedance: 2 or 4 Ohms
  • Power (4 ohm model): 300 W RMS / 600 W Peak
  • Sensitivity: 82.2 dB 1w/1m
  • Frequency Response: 28-100 Hz
  • Mounting Depth: 4 3/4", 12.1 cm
  • Mounting Cutout (square): 7 1/4", 18.4 cm

This statement in the 'Cons" is wrong and How silly anyway! "The Pros:Low profile design will work in a wide range of vehicle sizes. Plenty of bass, can get pretty loud if you want it to. Well-defined sound, good detail and clarity.

The Cons:Doesn't come with a diagram for cutting a hole in a custom box."

doesn't come with a diagram for cutting a hole in a custom box? BS, all KICKER subs do. whoever wrote that CON thing must be some kind of idiot.

when you opened the box. you lifted the top flap. the next flap is white and has one word on it, its hinged to the front of the box and the word thats written on it is : "TEMPLATE" it's a square.
if You look up the word TEMPLATE you will see that it means Pattern. see? ok so now that you have that down, there are no cons. LOL
