The LT-42X688 is a high-end LCD television from JVC that supports the latest buzzwords in display technology. The set displays a FullHD 1080p picture delivered by its two HDMI 1.3 inputs, which allows for deeper colors, and higher quality audio output. JVC includes the fifth generation of its Digital Image Scaling Technology which is a built-in scaler that upconverts all content to display at 1080p.
All the image processing is done through what JVC calls the Genessa chip. Image improvements include three different kinds of noise reduction, color enhancement, and the already mentioned upconversion. Nine different aspect ratios are available including a native option that outputs the raw signal, alongside four picture modes that have default settings for color, brightness, and sharpness.
JVC also touts the new universal remote that comes with the set. Being a universal remote, it can control a variety of home theater devices from a range of manufacturers, and is not limited to JVC equipment.
