The JVC DLA-RS40U is one of three 3D-enabled, D-ILA home theater projectors released in late 2010 as part of the Reference Series. As the weakest in the trio, the DLA-RS40U offers a 50,000:1 naïve contrast ratio, but maintains its super siblings’ 1080p resolution, dual HDMI v1.4 interfaces (with Deep Color support), and support for side-by-side (broadcast), frame series (Blu-ray), and above-below 3D transmissions. And for 3D, there is a specialized, separately purchased external 3D Signal Emitter that syncs the image with the separately purchased 3D glasses. Note also that the lamp brightness has been updated from previous generation Reference Series models up to 1300ANSI. Also included is 120Hz Clear Motion Drive Technology for reduced motion blur, and a 7-axis color management system for precise color tuning.
