Pros

has a great look, seems powerful and formidable before you even turn it on

3 agree

perfect sound quality for noisier environments where people are talking

1 agrees

loud enough output for gyms and most rooms in a house

1 agrees

controls are simple and obvious, don't have to go through any kind of learning process

1 agrees

will work wherever you set it down, don't have to position it any place special to create powerful bass

Cons

lights will often continue to cycle when not being used, won't turn off unless unplugged

2 agree

not high-fidelity, will disappoint audiophiles with an overly "boomy" bass and washed-out upper range

Edit

The JVC MX-KC38 has less features than some of the other products offered by JVC America but it also has a price that is more affordable on your average person's paycheck.  Playing WMA/MP3 and offering a stage dock for an iPod, the JVC MK-KC38 offers flexibility to make up for its 1-CD at a time player.  The black design of the box makes it look like it would fit in better in a punk rocker's living room than an executive as do some of the options such as 'sound turbo' and 'eco mode'.  It offers 3 sound modes to top it off, Rock, Pop, and Classic.

Features
  • 220W Power
  • WMA/MP3 (CD R/RW)
  • 3 way speakers
  • 6-5/16" Woofer, 2" Midrange, 13/16" Tweeter
  • Stage dock for an iPod
  • Front Audio Input
  • 1-CD player
  • Rock, Pop, and Classic sound modes
