The Intel Xeon X5680 is a top of the line server/workstation processor. It is built on a 32nm process (code name: Gulftown) with 6 cores with hyper-threading. The X5680  supports up to 288GB of memory (depending on memory type) as well as ECC memory. Other features include; Intel Turbo Boost, Virtualization (VT-x), trusted Execution, 64-bit, Idle states, Enhanced Speedstep, and execute disable bit. It has a max TDP of 130W and uses the FCLGA1366 socket. With its hefty price tag it is by no means a processor for everyday uses, neither is the processor designed for the consumer. The Intel Xeon X59680 is designed for cutting edge performance in a server/workstation environment. As with almost all highend server processors, this performances comes at a price.
