The Intel Core i7-2629M is a dual core mobile processor for mobile class systems such as laptops or all-in-one computers. This processor is part of the second generation of Intel Core processors for mobile systems, and provides 60-100% increase in processing power over some first generation models.
With a clock speed of 2.1 GHz, capped at 3 GHz when Turbo is activated, the processor is more than capable of handling multiple business and home programs running at once with little to no slowdown; however, multiple video-heavy programs such as gaming or video editing will tax the processor. Primarily intended for business use the processor has anti-theft technology in the form of a code that be transmitted remotely to disable the processor's system if ever stolen in order to protect important information. This code can be sent over a 3G cellular network and can be reversed if the laptop is recovered. With mobile systems in mind, the Intel Core i7-2629M is designed to use a low voltage and automatically adjusts power consumption depending on the current task to increase battery life when in use away from a power source.
