Edit

The Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 is a 65nm, dual-core ‘Conroe XE’ microprocessor released in June of 2006 and designed to replace the dual-core Pentium Extreme Edition processors. Comparable to the weaker Core 2 Duo models, the Extreme X6800 boasts a superior 2.93GHz core speed and an enhanced unlocked multiplier, but maintains 4MB of shared L2 cache. The X6800’s unlocked multiplier allows users to set the clock rate higher than the shipping frequency without modifying the FSB, unlike the ‘download unlocked only’ Core 2 Duo models. Additional features of the Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 include Intel Virtualization Technology, Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology, and Intel 64.
