The Intel Core 2 Duo T7800 was released as a high-end mobile processor in late 2007. This chip is related to the T5500 and T5600 processors, which are defined by slower performance and less features in comparison. This “Merom” version of the Core 2 Duo processor was replaced by the “Penryn” line in early 2008.

This CPU has a clock speed of 2.60 GHz, an 800 MHz front side bus and 4 MB of L2 cache. As one of the more expensive chips in the “Merom” family of processors, users can expect better performance for CPU-intensive applications. 64-bit operating systems are supported, allowing the latest versions of Windows 7 to be installed. Intel has also included their proprietary virtualization technology, which allows users to run more than one operating system simultaneously.
