The Intel Atom N550 is a dual-core processor designed for netbook computers. Released in late 2010, this CPU is the first Atom-based processor to feature multiple cores. The manufacturer is marketing the N550 as a chip that will give users a more responsive experience compared to previous Intel Atom releases. Manufacturers such as Asus, HP and Samsung have announced netbooks featuring this chip. Technically speaking, the N550 operates at a 1.5 GHz clock speed, has 1 MB of cache and supports DDR3 memory. Graphics have been integrated into the CPU, allowing for streaming video to perform better than previous Atom chips. This 64-bit processor can handle four individual threads, meaning users who multitask are likely to experience better overall performance.
