The HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus is a mid-range color inkjet printer intended for personal, home office, or even certain office uses. It is intended as a cheaper alternative to laser printers, and is an updated version of a similar previous model, the 8500A. The main upgrades over that one include a faster print engine, larger and more responsive touchscreen and a matte finish that reduces fingerprints on the surface of the printer.
This printer is designed with simplicity of use and setup in mind, and prints more quickly than HP's other inkjet models. It allows faxing, scanning and copying as well, and has integrated WiFi support. This means that users can print directly from any connected device. Since this printer is targeted at small businesses and home offices or workgroups, the print cartridges and suggested paper have also been designed to cut costs for bulk printing.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I hook up the fax line to it?

The back of the printer has a port for a standard phone/fax line, which is supplied with the printer. This fax line has only two contacts instead of the standard 4 that most phone lines have. Connect this to the proper port and run the fax setup program from the touch panel on the printer. If this is a dedicated and separate line, this should suffice. If it a shared line with distinctive ring you will need to set the number of rings before the fax comes through. Follow the instructions in the setup program.
