The HP Pavilion dv7t Select Edition is a high-end notebook laptop and is the next step up from the HP Pavilion dv6t Select Edition. Like the dv6t, the dv7t Select Edition has a variety of Intel dual and quad core processor options from Core i3, to i5 and i7; a selection of 4-8GB DDR3 RAM and your choice of 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 switchable graphics, 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 switchable or non-switchable graphics. Unlike the dv6t Select Edition, the dv7t has the option for a 1TB 7200RPM SATA Dual Hard Drive (500GB x 2), a 17.3" diagonal HD+ High-Definition HP LED BrightView Widescreen Display (1600 x 900) and the option of Windows 7 64-bit Professional or Ultimate in addition to Home Premium. The dv7t also lacks the touchscreen option that the dv6t Select Edition has.

At its base configuration, the dv7t Select Edition is a very capable media machine with HD media playback capabilities at a higher resolution than the dv6t Select Edition. Its i3 or i5 processor options will allow for a large degree of multi-tasking while its i7 processor options and 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 graphics processor option transform the dv7t into a portable gaming rig that can handle even modern DirectX 11 games. Unfortunately, an i7 processor will severely limit the dv7t Select Edition's battery life due to a higher required power consumption than the i3 and i5 dual core options.
