The HP 9000 rp8440 is a powerful yet affordable server offered by HP that provides high-end 64-bit computing at a midrange price. This server is capable of handling such demanding workloads as databases, enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications, and enterprise-wide SAP installations. It is powered by a dual-core PA-8900 processor and has exceptional performance density of up to 32 processor cores per server and two servers per rack. It runs on the HP-UX 11i operating system which features hard and virtual partitioning capabilities. The Virtual Server Environment (VSE) includes hard partitions (nPars), virtual partitions (vPars), high availability (Serviceguard), capacity on demand, and HP Workload Manager (WLM) capabilities to help manage resources to their maximum potential. The HP Super-Scalable Processor Chipset sx2000 gives a significant performance boost, decreases latencies and increases system bandwidth. There are also several optional high availability and business continuity solutions available for increased security and other features.
