Frequently Asked Questions

  • Compare this unit with the Crane Drop Shape Cool Mist Humidifier (EE-5301-FFP), which is better?

Reason to choose Honeywell: 1) it's dishwasher safe, 2) break resistant, 3) kills bacteria, mold and fungus, 4)two gallon tank v one gallon, and 5) no white film - even with our extremely hard water. Dishwasher safe and break resistant were important since the first humidifier we owned broke when it slipped in the sink. This one has stood up to my daughter smacking it when I'm filling the tank up.

  • Is there white dust?

No white dust and the uv light really seems to work. It is very, very quiet.

  • If i use only distilled water, will i need to replace the filter?

Distilled water may lengthen the life of a filter (or may not - I'm not a scientist), but to quote that famous philosopher, George Harrison, "All things must pass". But the filter will last a few months I believe, if you take it out about every week and rinse off the brown mineral stuff, and turn it upside down when replacing it. Also, the Vicks humidifiers you see in many drug and department stores use the same filter (Protec WF2), and they're only about $7-$8.
