Frequently Asked Questions
Can you use two chime units together with one door bell for two locations in the house?
Yes, you can do that: All you have to do is make sure ALL THREE UNITS are "coded" the same. By coded, you can "customize it" so that there is no interference from neighbors who MIGHT have a similar unit in their homes. In the back of both the chime AND the "bell press" are "tabs" that you can randomly move around, but you have to make sure that they're all the SAME configuration as the others are. Once the button is depressed, BOTH chime units will activate both in your basement AND "wherever you have the other one in the upstairs area". These are "supposed to have a 150' range".
If connecting to 3 doors, can the chime be different for each door?
Yes, the unit has three different sounds. Three pushbuttons can be used with distinctive sounds for each.
Do you think this would be good to use in house for the elderly to wear the doorbell around the neck with the unit in another part of house?
If you mean to use the button as a call or alarm button, with the chime unit elsewhere, should be fine. The distance is severely limited by metal, ie my apartment front door, which cuts the range to about 25 ft. But if you're in a normal wood-frame house, you should be fine. Clever idea! Doorbell button does have to be pressed firmly--you'd want to go over it several times with practice runs if you're dealing with frail or confused person.
