Play-Doh's gone fancy. Play-Doh has always been a great activity for kids, allowing them to use their unending imaginations to create colorful creatures and things. Kids also tend to have a 'look-at-me' attitude, so Play-Doh has taken these two ideals and created the Make N Display. Once your little one is done with their masterpiece, they can place it in a plastic display case that even lights up. The result is a little piece of artwork by your super talented 5 year old.

These kits come in themes like aquarium, dalmation, race car, desert, forest, and tea party. The stage kit lights up using 3 AAA batteries, comes with 5 different colored play-doh compound and instructions for the theme. Each kit runs about $2 and the stage is about $10.

I wish I had one of these when I was a kid. Sigh. But yes, Hasbro is definitely using this as a way to increase revenue. Now every kid wants this kit!

While I appreciate the sentiment behind this, it seems like Hasbro is just upping the number of play-doh you need to buy. Bascially, before you would just smoosh up your design and make a new one, but now you're going to have to keep buying more and end up with a museum of play-doh.
