Google Nexus Q is a social media streamer that streams audio and video content to your home theater from the cloud using any Android smartphone or tablet as the controller. The physical device is a small 4.6" diameter sphere with no buttons or interface elements. To control the device you connect to it over your WiFi connection on your Android handheld device and load up either the Google Play or YouTube app. The media content that it plays comes from the cloud, and can play any content you have stored connected your Google Play account. Friends and family can merge their media content when they are in range of your Nexus Q, and together you can create a collaborative playlist of content.

The Nexus Q includes a 25 Watt amplifier, so it can be connected directly to up to four speaker without the need for an external amplifier or receiver. Alternatively, you can also connect the audio to you amplifier/receiver using the S/PDIF optical output. For video, it features an Micro HDMI output. You can also stream the video / audio content over WiFi to any connected Android device. It retails fro $299 and can be purchased directly from the Google Play store.
