The Gateway P-7815u FX is a 17'' gaming notebook. It packs an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and a Nvidia 9800M GTS graphics card into a budget price tag which is rare for gaming oriented notebooks. The 9800M GTS is capable of playing modern PC games without any problems. Other components includes 4GB of ram and a 500GB hard drive. but with all these powerful components, the cost had to be cut somewhere, whilst the graphics card is more than capable for use with a high resolution display, the P-7815u is only equipped with a 1440x900 resolution display which is the lowest resolution available for a 17'' notebook. At just over 9lbs, it is by not means a notebook designed for daily commute. With its powerful components the downside is power usage, even with the 9 cell battery this notebook can only stay in power for 3 hours. Connectivity options includes HDMI out, eSATA port, FireWire, gigabit ethernet and wireless N. With it's low price and high end components, the Gateway P-7815u FX is an excellent option for gamers looking for an affordable desktop replacement.

This laptop is a monster. I usually only buy Alienware products, but when I needed a laptop rather quickly and the local Alienware dealer didnt have any "decent " lapotps in stock. I took a chance on a Gateway against the advice of many friends. It is heavy I'll say that up front. But the performance is very surprising and it still plays todays graphically demanding games. Ok you be able to plat them on Ultra settings, but I managed to get MW3 to run at 42 fps on high settings. And A.V.A. from IJJI now Aeria games I can actually run on very high and get 70 fps. It handles everyday photo and video editing with ease. And with the HDMI port I can watch all my burned movies on the mega screen HD TV. All in all a very good deal and a very good laptop. I highly recommend this laptop to anyone wanting a "decent laptop" for gaming and anything else you might need it to do.

powerful for the price. multitasks with ease. this 17" is packed, so it is expected to be heavy. does collect fingerprints and smudges easily, but is a minor problem.
