The Petnation Port-A-Crate Indoor/Outdoor Pet Home allows you to take your best friend with you anywhere you go. This portable home is perfect for family vacations, trips, vet visits, or for simply setting up a quiet retreat within your home.
The Petnation Port-A-Crate is easy to set-up and breakdown. Simply lay the crate flat and release the side clips used to keep the crate in the folded position. Gently pull the front and back panels of the crate to the vertical position.
Next, stand to one side of the crate and grasp the 2 piece top bar with both hands. Gradually pull the 2 bars upward so that they join each other, being careful not to pinch your hand at the connection point. Slide the closure sleeve over the connection until it is fully extended and frame is rigid. Repeat the same process on the other side.
Cleaning your Petnation Port-A-Crate is extremely easy. Each model is constructed with a water resistant material for quick and easy cleanup; simply clean up any pet waste and then wipe down the material with a stain and odor remover (we recommend Nature's Miracle) and allow it to air dry. For more extensive cleaning, simply remove the fully washable cover from the steel frame and throw it in with the rest of the laundry; it really is that effortless!
The safety of your pet is as important to us as it is to you. All parts of your Petnation Port-A-Crate are made of lightweight, non-toxic materials that contain no sharp or small pieces that could potentially harm your pet. Specially designed rounded corners protect against accidental damage to auto interiors and home décor and mesh windows provide proper ventilation while your pet is inside.
Petnation Port-A-Crate Pet Homes are available in six sizes to accommodate almost any size pet. Measuring your pet for the perfect sized crate is simple. First, measure your pet from the top of his head to the floor (the Port-A-Crate only needs to be one to two inches taller than this measurement). Second, measure your pet from the tip of his nose to the base of his tail (the Port-A-Crate only needs to be four to six inches longer than this measurement). Following these guidelines will allow your pet enough room to stand up, turn around, and lay down comfortably. You can of course provide a larger space for your pet but remember that dogs are den animals and feel most comfortable and secure in an enclosed area. Use the handy chart located below to choose the perfect Port-A-Crate for your pet needs.
You can use your Petnation Port-A-Crate to housebreak and crate train a new puppy. The benefits of training with a Port-A-Crate include:
- Dramatically reduced housebreaking time.
- A crate trained puppy will travel much easier.
- Crate training teaches your puppy desirable behavior.
- Crate training improves and strengthens the pet/owner bond.
- Crate training provides security and privacy by providing your puppy with its own "home" when he becomes tired or anxious.
- It provides you peace of mind that your home is not being damaged and your pet is safe while you're out.
Although your Petnation Port-A-Crate is extremely well made, no fabric crate will contain a pet that is an aggressive chewer or scratcher. Leaving your pet unattended for extended periods of time may cause anxiety for your pet and cause him to scratch or chew to escape. It is important to take your pet’s behavioral habits and needs into consideration before selecting a crate. Always remember to remove your pet's leash and collar prior to placing him in his Port-A-Crate to prevent accidental choking.
Frequently Asked Questions
I am looking for a mesh crate to travel long distance with my cat. I need room for him and a small litter box. Would the 28" be sufficient?
It might be, but I would suggest that you use paper and draw the length and width of the carrier, then set something the size of the litter box on the paper. This would give you an idea of how much room your cat would have. Hope this helps.
Which size would be good for a parson jack russell.
I would say that the size of the crate would depend upon what you want it to do. First, I have not met a Jack Russell that was not super energetic. Therefore, I would always go with a larger sized crate. Will the crate just be for transportation for short distances? Perhaps one of the smaller crates would do. Will he spend a lot of time in it, for instance, while you are at work? Get the largest crate you can afford. Measure your dog (adult size) from the top of its head to the bottom of its feet. If the crate is just for short distance transportation, get one of the crates for those measurements. I bought the Firstrax 24" for my 10 pound Chihuahua because he is very active. He is a normal-sized Chihuahua. He has plenty of head room and lots of room to move around. I do leave the "door" open to allow him to come and go at will but he still spends a lot of time in there -- by his choice. He loves it! (I think it gives him a sense of security which is calming to him.) This crate would allow for 3 Chis like mine to fit inside -- if they were all couch potatoes! Since the average Jack Russell is usually larger than my Chis, I would say the 24" crate should be the smallest that you should consider. Because your breed is so hyper, I would be concerned about him destroying the zipper or the mesh door. Both appear to be really strong and heavy duty but a really hyper JR might break through anyway. However, IF he is not going to confined for.
The door is shown open with the dog lounging through it. Is the door zip-down and is it mesh?
Yes, the door zips all around and it is mesh.
