Estes’ Proto X is a tiny remote control helicopter intended as a toy for persons over age 14, and one of the companies smallest offerings. It is lightweight and uses four rotors to fly, and is controlled remotely with a two-joystick controller that resembles a console gamepad. The copter itself has a lightweight one-piece body and it has onboard LED lights that allow users to track it. It also uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which charges via a USB connection, as well as a gyroscope that keeps it stable during flight. Note that the remote control transmitter does require two AAA batteries (not included) for use. The controls are simple and come pre-programmed, so adding the batteries is the only step required to use it out-of-box. There are also four additional rotor blades included as spare parts.
