the same as the cheaper AVR 891 despite a few bells and whistles - not worth it for those who want only basic receiver functionality

Edit

The AVR-2311CI is Denon's low-cost offering in their line of A/V receivers. In promotion, Denon has emphasized the fact that their new A/V receivers have a vastly improved surround sound experience from their previous offerings. The high resolution audio decoders (Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby ProLogicIIz) are responsible for the quality of surround sound here. With Dolby ProLogicIIz, you have the ability to produce two additional front height effects channels, which enhances the surrond quality. The AVR-2311CI is equipped with conventional AM/FM radio, as well as HD radio. On HD radio, AM radio sounds like FM and FM radio sounds like a CD. The Anchor Bay Technologies VRS processor, standard on all of Denon's A/V receivers, takes standard definition video sources and upgrades them to HDMI. The AVR-2311CI has no ethernet connectivity, (like its cousins the AVR-3311CI and AVR-4311CI have), and no Pandora or Flickr access either.
