The Dell Precision M4400 is a laptop that functions as a mobile workstation. In size, it sits between the M6300 and the M2400, weighing in at under 6 lbs.  Withe the Intel Core 2 Duo processors and its advanced graphic capabilities, many reviewers say that the M4400 can handle the graphic needs of CAD or other design projects. Like the other members of the Dell Precision family the M4400 is built for rugged use and engineered for performance.

Great laptop, extremely fast with lots of rich features but the GPU overheating is a gigantic pain if you want to play any decent 3D rendering game. I had Dell come out and replace the graphic card the first time because I thought it was failing, however, I can now see that the GPU just runs very hot. This ends up underclocking the GPU substantially to the point that you can't play any games like Wow or Starcraft.

I purchased a cooling pad and have a fan blowing on it continually and still get an average of 75-80C temp. This has addressed some of the FPS issues I was having with WoW so I get about 30fps on a High graphic setting. The internal fan in this device is also very noisy which can be annoying if you have your laptop in your bedroom!

If you use a keyboard, don't buy this. The stupid gude button between the GHBN keys make any normal typing impossible. Also, when you undock it from the docking station, there's only lo res video.

if you run heavy apps, such as compiling code, it will quickly overheat to the point of burning your hands. can't use it to watch movies either, because of the noise and vibrations of the dvd player.
