Add an extra line of safety and become a better driver with this commercial grade backup camera and monitor system. Custom installation will allow you to mount your camera and monitor exactly where you need it. The pop-out monitor easily retracts from the housing when needed. Preferred mounting location for the camera is just above the rear license plate (choose from flush mount or bracket mount options). The small and durable camera and housing installs easy and will provide you with an extra set of eyes on the road. Steer clear of bicyclists, watch out for pedestrians and skill your way into those tight parking spots like never before. Also useful whenever you reverse or when visibility is limited. Configure the system to work with an existing in-dash monitor or use the included monitor -comes with RCA-compatible video inputs. The color camera also displays distance scale lines on your monitor clearly marking the distance from objects.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How detailed are the installation instructions? Could someone with no similar installation experience put it in?

Instructions are not helpful but it's not difficult. You have to find out how to access the backup light on your car (search for video on Internet). Then cut the wire, strip it and splice 4 the wires (cut ends of backup light wires + camera + monitor). It is important to connect the hot wires (red) together and the ground wires (black or white) together. Then secure them with a twister. The optical wire from the backup camera to the monitor is an additional wire. How to hide the wires depends on the car. I was able to route the wire from the backup camera to the backup light through the license plate lamp (the port was big enough). I hid the wire under a molding that held the upholstery. This monitor does not pop up automatically; you have to press the button. However, it lies flat on the dashboard (self adhesive) when not in use. It comes with it's own backup camera but I bought a better one separately. It is important that the backup camera lens be WATERPROOF, otherwise it will fog.
