Frequently Asked Questions
Why do some reviewers recommend using distilled water?
The manufactor reccomends it because the minerals in tap or bottled water will stain the bottom of the burner and you have to use vinegar to remove it. The instructions say over time it will cause discoloration to the eggs- don't know because after the first few times using tap water and then having to scrub the bottom with vinegar, I went out and bought a gallon jug of distilled water for 99 cents. Well worth the money.
Is it automatic shut off
When the cooking is finished there is a loud audible tone. You will want to be there to put the eggs under running cold water to keep them from overcooking (from the heat within the eggs.) It stops cooking when it runs out of water, but it will start cooking again when the unit cools off, so you manually slide the switch to off and unplug it.
Does this model have a three prong plug?
No, it has a regular two prong plug.
