The Cuisinart DGB - 700BC Grind & Brew 12-Cup Automatic Coffee Maker has a built-in bean grinder and features a charcoal water filter and a GoldTone filter for a more European brew. This machine includes an eight-ounce bean hopper that has a coffee strength selector with grind control, allowing the user to select a suitable amount of beans depending on the amount of coffee they need brewed at the time. The brew pause feature lets coffee lovers remove the carafe to pour a cup of coffee before it’s completed the brewing cycle without causing any spill or mess. Once the carafe has been replaced on the machine, the brewing will start back up from where it left off. It also features a fully programmable clock, a replaceable water filter and an auto shutoff, so that this machine will shut itself off when it’s not in use after a given time. Making Coffee with Whole Beans

  • Fill the Water Reservoir – First, open the reservoir lid and pour the amount of water that’s needed into the reservoir, and close the lid. Make sure not to pour over the 12-cup line or the carafe may overflow.
  • Add Beans – Fill the bean hopper with beans, but please note that it’s recommended that the hopper stay at least halfway full at all times. Do not pack the hopper too full, but make sure that there is enough beans to brew the amount of coffee desired. The maximum capacity is ½-pound. Turn the hopper container release knob to the unlock position and the hopper can be taken out for simple loading. Don’t forget to put the hopper lid back in place.
  • Lock Hopper – Make sure the hopper container is back in the unit, and then turn the knob to the locked position. This machine features a safety system that will not allow the grinding to start if the hopper isn’t in place.
  • Insert Coffee Filter – Press the filter basket door release button to open the door, and remove the basket. Place a #4 paper filter or a Cuisinart commercial style permanent filter in the basket.
