The Cobra Nav One 4500 is a GPS receiver for the car.  It sits in the middle of the batting order for the Cobra Nav One team, the 2100 leads off and the 5000 hits clean-up. The 4500 was one of the first to bring a 5" display to the car's windshield. This 320–by-240 pixel touch screen makes it a lot easier to see your desired route at a glance. It includes a matchbook-size FM-based traffic receiver that (with a subscription to Clear Channel's traffic data) lets you get live traffic reports. Although widely acclaimed for its large viewing screen, PC Mag.Com's review points out some weaknesses. The reviewers were disappointed with the routing options that the Nav One 4500 provides. Unlike competing products that give you very granular control over preferences for vehicle type and road type, the 4500 limits your choices to just three. The quality of the routes compared to comparable units was poor, and the 4500 does not have text-to-speech conversion which means you have to read the directions as you drive. It does pack a huge database of points-of-interests (POI) just like the 5000. Do the research before purchasing this unit to be sure you get the options you want.
