Canon's PowerShot SD980 IS is a higher-end compact point-and-shoot digital camera that has many features designed to increase convenience, and is similar in style and features to the PowerShot SD940 IS, with a few upgrades. It has a 5x optical zoom capability and a total resolution of 12.1 megapixels the SD980 is also stylish and has a metallic finish available in four different colors. It is compact and portable, and has 22 different preset shooting modes. AUTO mode automatically selects from among these, or they can be selected manually. The LCD screen is larger than the SD940's and measures 3.0" diagonal, and it is also a touch screen that allows photo navigation and selecting an autofocus point while taking an image. Like the SD940, the SD980 is capable of HD 720p video capture, and has a HDMI connection to playback videos on a compatible HD screen.
