Bushnell's Elite 8x 42mm model is a higher-end model, one step below the 10x 42mm model in the Elite series, but it has many of the same features. The main difference is its lower magnification (8x as opposed to 10x). Its main features include a durable magnesium chassis, which is also waterproof, as well as highly-transparent glass prisms for better light transmission. These are coated with special coatings that enhance brightness and and allow up to 99.7% light transmission. One of the coatings also encourages water to bead instead of fogging or misting and blocking vision. Eye relief is also slightly longer on these than the 10x model.
