Cons

Extracts too quickly - approximately 50mL in 10 seconds, even with varying grinds and amount in basket. Leaves the basket filled with sloppy grinds

3 agree

Power switch can be defective

2 agree

Heats water after selecting the espresso option, meaning the fresh grinds in the basket are burning while you wait for the extraction

1 agrees

Water does not heat up enough

1 agrees

Poor steam wand design - pumps water into milk while heating and is difficult to clean, with a lot of milk getting caught

1 agrees

Water can leak out of the reservoir

1 agrees

Filter area can be messy to clean out

1 agrees

Steam wand is very weak - takes several minutes to heat up a small jug, doesn't foam well or spin the milk, keeps stopping

1 agrees

Leaks water randomly from the group head, including after finishing the extraction and using steam wand

The Breville Café Venezia BES250XL model is a mid-grade espresso machine. The machine is more specifically designed for personal consumer use, meaning more home-based appliance but that is not to say however that the device can't be used commercially for a small business. The Café Venezia BES250XL body is completely encased in a durable stainless steel and a refined professional finish. The BES250XL features a full 15 bars of pressure combined with a special patented Triple Prime pump that automatically shoots three quick bursts of steaming hot water into the filter head and creates a much higher pressure inside the device; this allows more crema to be ejected into the beverage leading to a more smooth and rich taste. A unique dual action selector dial allows users to turn to the right for Espresso extraction and to the left to start the steam wand and activate the milk frothing function.

The device also includes lights which illuminate to let users know the machine is turned on or heated. An included stainless steel cup warming tray can heat up to six Espresso cups simultaneously. The device also incorporates not one, but three stainless steel filters that each have separate uses (single shot, 7g; double shot, 14g; and pod) and utilize Breville's dual wall crema technology; they also utilize an easy eject feature making them simple to change and clean in-between use. A feature specific to the Café Venezia BES250XL model includes a unique thermocoil heating element that heats the water temperature high enough to froth milk and then utilizes the built-in Auto-Purge function to lower the temperature quickly back down to the correct normal brewing temp. The Breville Café Venezia BES250XL also includes additional accessories such as a dual sided coffee tampering tool/measuring scoop, and a milk frothing jug.

My kids bought me a Breville Venezia in December 2011. Less than 3 months later (after cleaning according to the user manual) it appears that the 1 AND 2 cup filter inserts are blocked. A call to Customer Service two days ago had the Customer Service Officer suggest cleaning with lemon juice to remove coffee buildup. (Good suggestion I thought :-) "If it doesn't clear it, call me back and we'll find a solution" OK...didn't fix it, so on this call today (and a different CSO) "No Sir, the filter cup inserts are considered "consumables" and are not covered by warranty. THREE MONTHS & CLEANED ACCORDING TO THE MANUAL! Does it say "Consumables - not covered by warranty? NO! The CSO also said "We sell hundreds every day" I said, "doesn't that indicate a design problem?" "No Sir - we don't have design problems, and if we did, we'd be the first to know about it"

BEWARE OF THE NON-WARRANTY of Breville Venezia....and expect to have to clean hundreds of tiny holes in the filter insert after every cup (with a tiny pin tool, that breaks very easily)

INSPIRATION - Every day Breville!
