The Averatec Buddy is a 10.2" widescreen netbook, the first attempt by Averatec in producing a mini notebook. It comes with Genuine Windows XP Home Edition installed. Like some of Averatec's larger, more powerful notebooks, this netbook includes a 1.3 megapixel webcam that makes the tiny computer a hub for Internet communication. The keyboard is large to make it easier for less delicate users. The Averatec Buddy has 1GB of DDR2 system RAM in its one slot and a 160GB SATA hard drive that runs at 5400 rpm. The netbook weighs a minute 2.65 pounds, an optional extended battery, five high speed USB 2.0 ports, 1 microphone jack, 1 headphone jack, 1 4-in-1 memory card reader, and a Kensington lock slot to add an extra touch of security.
