The Asus G2 Series is the 2008 production of Asus Notebooks that are specifically designed for Gaming and Multi-Media usage. It improves over the original G1 Series in that the base model has a larger 17" 16x9 (WXVGA) screen and more hardware options such as Extreme Processors, SLI Graphics, Built in TV Tuners, Blue-Ray DVD's, Better Audio components (Chipsets and Speakers).

After owning my Eee for a while the Asus brand has definitely been promoted a few notches. I don't know if I'll ever be in the market for a hardcore heavy-duty laptop like this, but if I were I'd consider this one simply because Asus makes it.

From a gaming perspective I'd rather just use a console, or a PC hooked up to an HDTV. From a media perspective I'd rather just use something small and compact like a Mac mini or gPC. I can see this being useful for hardcore gamers that go to a lot of LAN parties.
