The Asus Ares is a dual-card graphics module featuring two HD 5870 cards with a total of 4GB of GDDR5 video memory. It weighs almost 5lbs and requires 750 watts of power. However, the price, the weight, and the heavy-duty power consumption pays off in that the module is what critics dub a “graphical behemoth,” in that benchmark tests reveal the Ares capable of reaching 14,000 to even 15,000 points. Featured also oxygen-free 8mm heatpipes, a high-airflow fan, an easy-to-disassemble enclosure, and support for CrossFire. Many critics complain that the unit is too loud, though, as testers at Guru3D have reported a 50 DBa noise output measured at a 75 CM distance. However, none of them deny the Asus Ares’s almost ridiculous potential for high-quality graphics at extraordinarily high speeds.
