The ASRock 770 Extreme3 is a middle-end motherboard. It is designed to hold the main components for a PC. It features an AM3 socket, a USB 3.0 port, and support for up to 16GB of DDR3 RAM. The AM3 socket allows a user to plug in a large variety of AMD CPUs, including the Phenom II x6/x4/x3/x2, the Athlon II x4/x3/x2, and the Sempron. The motherboard also includes one USB 3.0 port, which enables faster transfer rates than USB 2.0, and opens a user up to the future of USB technology. The ASRock 770 Extreme3 features four DIMM slots, which allow a user to utilize up to 16GB of DDR3 RAM. This allows the PC they build to utilize a large amount of applications. When compared to another ASRock motherboard, the 4Core1333-FullHD, the 770 Extreme 3 shows several superior aspects, including a USB 3.0 slot, support for DDR3 RAM as opposed to DDR2 RAM, and support for more advanced processors (AMD Phenom x6 vs Intel Core 2 Quad).
