Edit

Apple TV is a media appliance that connects a high definition display with content on the Internet. New to the latest version is the ability to stream video and audio in high definition, allowing instant viewing of movies or TV shows when they are rented or purchased through the iTunes store or through a connection to an external device connected through AirPlay. It is also compatible with Netflix, enabling the same media rental services, and can stream through YouTube as well. An IR sensor enables the use of an included aluminum remote control, but owners of an iPhone, iPad or iPod can also download an application to use those devices as a remote control instead. Connection to the device is conventionally handled through dual-band Wi-Fi, but a 10/100 Ethernet connector port is also available for wired connections. Output runs through an HDMI port, and an additional optical audio output is available for high-end audio receivers.

Features
  • Stream video, audio to an HD display
  • Rent movie and TV shows through iTunes
  • Netflix, YouTube compatible
  • iPhone, iPad, iPod compatible
  • 802.11n Wi-Fi (a/b/g compatible), 2.4GHz and 5GHz
  • HDMI, Optical audio, 10/100BASE-T Ethernet, Micro-USB ports

This looks like a pretty good buy to me at $199. I realize that the #apple_tv is $99, but it can't play your "downloaded" content. It's half as expensive as an HTPC, and runs the super slick Boxee UI and will play any media you throw at it. I'm liking the QWERTY remote from what I see in the photos.
