The Acer TravelMate 8481T Timeline is a business laptop set for release in September 2011 that features a frameless bezel-trimming compact design. The laptop only measures 13.3" across and weighs 3.7 pounds, yet houses a 1366 x 768 resolution 14" display and is powered by an Intel Core i5 processor with 4GB of DDR3 memory expandable to 8GB. The screen is an Acer ComfyView LCD LED backlit design that uses Intel HD Graphics 3000 with 128MB of dedicated system memory, and is equipped with Wireless Display or WiDi technology for wirelessly streaming to a compatible HD display for use in video presentations etc. Also of benefit to the business crowd is the claim that productivity applications can now be run at 60 per cent faster than previous generation processors with multitasking upped to twice the speed. Acer PowerSmart long lasting batteries have also been included which have up to three times the amount of life cycles as a traditional battery, as well as offering a full work day of up to 13 hours on one charge depending on usage. The 320GB 7200 RPM internal SATA hard drive has been especially reinforced with next-generation DASP (Disk Anti-Shock Protection) technology to prevent against damage due to drops or bumps, and it is soft mounted for further shock absorption.
